I upgraded to 8.1 from 8.0 this morning and had the same problem with my internet access/wifi following the upgrade. You see 2 drivers for the same broadcom adapter. The internet connection was working fine earlier today. As this appears to be related to the WDM driver issued/signed by Microsoft, has there been any cases opened to CSS/PSS for this?
