He said 'I'm sure, and that 8hrs is just an estimate. It was a clean install and I had no backup of any drivers whatsoever since I was switching to windows from linux. The FN key works but i want my buttons back to their old function without having to use FN key.

Since pressing FN and the F keys worked, then my gut told me it had to be much simpler and not as complicated as above.
