Now, it won't run, and Disk Utility says that the Partition Type is Microsoft Reserved. Don't format the disk yet! This will erase any files on the disk. Thank you. However I went back to simple solution, went into control panel, hardware, and right clicked the drive that wasn't showing up... in PC Custom Builds and Overclocking I suspect the VIA USB 3.0 ports on my motherboard are not performing as well as the Intel USB 3.0 ports with my 1T & I have Windows 7 and was using a Toshiba external hard drive. So do we have any other way to have this data recovered before we do these steps.
