All I did was went to control Panel and then Devices and Printers and I could see that my drive was showing there, but not coming up as a drive on I followed your advice step by step and lost all of the files on my external drive, only THEN to see the warning that this would happen. External Hard Drive Not Recognized Windows 10

Any of my older flash drives or Seagate portable HD are recognized and connect to the computer. No exclamation marks, etc. Even closing and re-booting still will not recognise the headphone connection yet any other external is okay.
