External Hard Drive Is Not Being Read Properly


After reboot, there was a USB icon showing up on the right cornor of the desktop. Same as on my win7 Laptop... It would not let me change the drive letter. If you see a yellow exclamation mark, you have a driver problem. weblink

I am soooooooo frustrated!!! I didn't (or don't) have an issue with my WD or Hitachi portable hard-drives, only with the 2 Seagate ones. Search Engine Friendly URLs by vBSEO ©2011, Crawlability, Inc. Anyone know what's wrong?

Some USB hubs won’t provide enough power for your external drive to function. If it works in one USB port but not another, you may have a dead USB port Dead USB Port? try to format.. External Hard Drive Not Showing In Disk Management After a lot of different crap, i downloaded a recovery program. Anyway, give it a shot and wait for a couple of minutes.

I didn't realise when I bought it that it wouldn't work straight away and it needed formatting and partitioning.

Even when I try to plug my HD into the USB plug were my Mouse was plugged in, nothing happend... The HDD is also split into 4 different sub-folders now. It sometimes make me crazy. I have tried some solutions shown here, but they will not dhow up in device manager.

Really useful information. I had a 1 TB external that's been giving me problems for months j was just about to write it off as ruined. Restarted computer (without disconnecting HD). To open it, press Windows Key + R, type “devmgmt.msc” into the Run dialog, and press Enter. It used to be simpler to format c: /s (for system files for floppies & HD) Now stuff is more hidden. New volume is also not working.
